The New Normal and Upcoming Movie Roles

Matt Bomer is a busy guy! He will be making a guest appearance on Ryan Murphy's The New Normal on ABC in addition to his upcoming movie roles. Matt will be playing Bryan's (Andrew Rannells) ex boyfriend who cheated on him with a woman. No news yet on when the episode will air.

Matt Bomer will also be playing in Ryan Murphy's A Normal Heart. He plays the part of Felix Turner, a gay journalist who falls for a gay activist (Mark Ruffalo) and contracts AIDS. A Normal Heart is an autobiographical drama that shows the rise of AIDS in the 1980s  among New York's gay community. Also starring are Julia Roberts, Alec Baldwin, Jim Parsons, and Mark Ruffalo. Matt spoke about his part in the movie . “It becomes the story of unconditional love in a romantic relationship under fire,” he says. “I have never felt a responsibility to get a role right more than this. We want the movie to be unflinchingly truthful.”

Matt is also playing in an upcoming drama called Winter's Tale. It's based on the 1983 novel by Mark Helperin. The story is about a thief  (Colin Farrell) who breaks into a dying woman's home and how they eventually become lovers. Matt Bomer plays Farell's father (really?) in the beginning scenes of the movie.Winter's Tale is currently filming in New York.

Filmmaker Jack Plotnick's science fiction film Space Station 76 has recently finished filming and is in post production. The movie follows the lives of people on the space station and is set in the 70's version of the future. Matt Bomer plays a technician with a robotic hand and Marisa Coughlan plays his wife. Patrick Wilson plays a suicidal captain and Liv Tyler plays his assistant. They have really kept this one quiet, and there just isn't a lot of information out there on Space Station 76. No release date has been announced.

Magic Mike DVD Will Release October 23rd

Pardon me while I wipe away the drool.Ten days and counting until the release of Magic Mike on Dvd on October 23rd. I hope everyone has a Blu Ray player however, because the extended dance scenes are only featured on Blu Ray, not on the Dvd.

You can watch one of Matt Bomer's deleted scenes below. Matt Bomer as a Ken Doll, how the hell can they cut this?

In the meantime there have been some amazing pictures going around of Matt as the Ken Doll.

Matt and Simon Accept GLSEN Award

Matt Bomer and his husband Simon Halls accepted the Inspiration Award from the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network. They received it for meaningful contributions toward creating a world where every child learns to respect and accept all people. Matt and Simon are raising three sons together.

You can watch their acceptance speech here.

Matt talked about growing up gay in a Texas high school.

"When I was in high school, there was no safe haven, there was no outlet for you to speak your mind, so I did what any self-preserving 14-year-old would do—I signed up for the school play and also the football team to cover my tracks. When that happens, when you aren't allowed to speak about who you are, one of the most authentic parts of who you are, which is who you love or is who you're attracted to, feels invisible. GLSEN gives visibility and authenticity to kids all across the country."

Simon spoke about what their children have taught him.

"Having kids teaches you so many things, and one of the things we both have learned in our parenting journey is how loving and accepting and open children's minds and hearts are. Unfortunately, in some parts of the country, some kids are taught at an early age that being different is somehow bad or wrong or worthy of ridicule. Kids aren't born to be bullies, they're taught to be bullies."

Congratulations to Matt and Simon.
